Sneaking into Locked Rooms

(posted by Cosmos on behalf of TheEpicOne)

Hey guys, I wanted to share with you of an interesting strategy I use when trying to find an MP or arena room.

Between 50 to 70% of the time, rooms are locked with a password. Some common passwords are 123, 1234, 001, etc. However, the fact that there can be any number from 1 to 6 digits makes it difficult to find passwords. The easiest trick to use is to enter the room number as the password. For example, to enter room 21, use "21" as the password. I have found that this trick works for me about 10 to 20% of the time.

Of course, there is a reason that rooms are locked - people want their friends and their friends alone to join. However, this is usually not the case when the room's password is the same as the room number. I usually leave the room immediately and then post a message on world chat informing the leader that they should change the password. The leader generally invites me to join. This was the case today, when the most popular character on our server, Dreamy, invited me to join her on her arena run.

When the leader does not invite you, at least you have informed them that they should improve their password, and it could be a good laugh for both parties.

I hope I have at least helped you when it comes to finding rooms.

P.S. Cosmos Advice: just take care not to be annoying guys :) if you stick around in the room where you are not wanted you will create unnecessary negativity and you are also blocking the spot for their friend to join, so like TheEpicOne said, enter and leave, especially if the room has 3 people in it!

Battleground Brackets

Hi guys, a useful piece of reference information here: Wartune's Battleground Brackets. Be aware of them to make sure you have the most success in the Battleground event.

For those who are not aware, Battleground Brackets are the rules by which Wartune puts you, based on your level, in various Battleground rooms. If you accidentally go into a higher bracket then you will all of a sudden face much stronger opponents and die a lot and lose honor.

How to read the chart:

The numbers in yellow are levels. So from level 30 to level 39 is bracket 1 and from level 35 to level 44 is bracket 2.

As you can see the brackets overlap so for example if you are level 47 sometimes you will be placed in a weaker room with levels 40 to 49 and sometimes you will be placed in a higher bracket room with levels 45 to 54. Note that you can exit the Battleground and re-enter in 5 minutes (there is a 5 min. penalty) in the hopes of falling into the lower room.

At the bottom numbers 1 to 9 are just categories of brackets, so the lowest #1 is the lowest bracket of levels 30 to 39 and the highest #9 is the top bracket of levels 70 to 80.

Proof that Blue Sylphs Drop

Hey guys, short post here to share proof that blue sylphs drop when farming. I know we discussed it and I did say that they drop, but here is the proof of it just in case some people were doubting the info I previously posted:

(remember the chances of this happening are less than 0.1%)

Thanks to Satellizer archer S235 for sharing the pic.

Big Spender Event: Estimated Bonus Balen Values

Hey guys, this is a post dedicated to all the balen spenders out there working to get you the most return for your spent balens in the Big Spender event. Right now in Wartune we have ongoing the Big Spender event where extra bonus items are given once you spend a certain amount of balens. So I figured to calculate their value and see which option will give you the best return for the spent balens.

In the analysis below you will see that I estimate the value of the items in balens and I check how much percent they are from the required spending amount. Interestingly the results are stable only on the top tiers but the 2nd tier gives the best return for the balens spent, so my recommendation will be, for those who want to participate in this event and are interested to get the most return back, to spend 5000 balens.

Mailbox Hoarding!

(Posted by Eliatan -- 2013 graduate of the COSMOS School of Hoarding)

Hey you guys, I was getting a little low on bag space after the recent unlimited mount whip event, so I decided to take the opportunity to talk about using your mailbox to store items.

Using the game mailbox is a great way to save some backup gold from world boss rewards. As long as you don't click on them, mail messages do not expire for 30 days (drops to 3 days once you view the contents).

This gold comes in handy so that you can purchase things like talents, enchantments, and gem conversions on demand. I have a guildie who saved up so many pages of world boss prizes that some were down to only 1 day left on the expiration ... though that's a bit extreme ...

Space has been a little tight trying to save up soul crystals and things for all the events, so what I did was put all the items I wanted to go to mailbox into my vault:

Then I got kicked from my guild (and returned ^^ lol):

And this is what I have afterward!

A few words of caution:
  • Remember to spend all your contribution before asking to be kicked from your guild, or you'll lose whatever you had.
  • *Knock on wood* I've never lost mailbox messages, but I've seen a couple people on the forums say they have. I wouldn't risk storing any items so precious that losing them to cyber space will setback your toon a lot (either a lot of time or a lot of money).
Hope this helps anyone crunched for space! Opening up rows in the bags is quite expensive after the change from vouchers to bound balens, so I think this is a valid option for players who missed that opportunity.

Haters in Wartune

Hey guys, i'm a bit sad writing this post but wanted to share the info with you anyways and give you my advice on it. As some of you have unfortunately encountered yourself there are angry and full of hate people in Wartune like there are in life. Actually I find games to be a good reflection of reality and most of the time how someone behaves in Wartune is most likely similar to how they are in real life since personality is strong and remains the same, so kind people in life are also kind in Wartune and visa versa.

Here below you will see a very unpleasant for me chat with a player called "spuntz" from my own server - Armor Games Server 2 Europe, guild: Dawgs, where I try to reason with him to show him that there is no reason behind his anger / hate against me, but unfortunately I was not successful to convince him to use rationality and logic instead of his hate. So as difficult as it is for me also to follow my own advice, I want to advise you that when you meet players like this while playing Wartune or in real life:

  1. If you can control your own emotions in face of insults try to speak and reason with such people. Although rare, there is a small chance that they might understand that their actions are not nice.
  2. Otherwise, avoid them completely. Do not hang out with such people, do not let them into your life. And if they are part of your family then either stop seeing them or reduce the time that you have to meet them.
  3. Do not reply to their messages no matter how much you might want to because unless you can do point (1) it will turn into an insulting frenzy on both sides, which further motivates them.
  4. The most difficult point for anyone: You have to accept that even if hypothetically you are a Saint and you have only done good things for people, there will still be people who hate you, insult you and/or speak badly about you behind your back. Unfortunately that is how some people are.

New Troops 50% Stronger

Hey guys, interesting news - new troops have arrived to Wartune China, so we can have a look on them and see what we are going to get sooner or later. They are both PATK and MATK following after the Templar and the Warlock but they are 50% stronger which is rather huge!

I was actually wondering when the new troops will show up because, with the new sylphs, even a full health, Templars for example, get 1 shot killed with the sylphs AOE attack (example: Iris delphic). So new troops were needed for sure, although I am not sure that 50% stronger is enough for the sylphs's attacks.

However, this will pose a problem when not in the sylph mode, because already it is rather difficult for most non-top players to clean up the templars, so this really plays in the hands of mages primarily, then archers and as usual knights get the short end of the stick.

EDIT: Hey guys, got an update from Hyperion who's been doing some secret agent translation research :) so a few points and a picture:

  • Max lvl 70 troops. Magic knight on left.. magic angel on right.
  • Knight skill : 50% chance to do 200% damage.
  • Mage maybe aoe?

From EWD to Crit Mage: Before and After

(Posted by Eliatan)

Hey you guys, I've been thinking for awhile that it's time for me to move my mage from an EWD (enhanced will destroyer) build to a crit one. I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison of the two options yet, so I hope this proves interesting and informative :)

My main reasons for moving to a crit build:
  1. The sylph system seems to really favor crit builds -- huge Iris heals, frequent rage-free delphic attacks, and many other good reasons to have crit on your side.
  2. I enjoy the PvE parts of the game, where crit is extra strong, more so than the PvP aspects.
  3. I could use a change. I've been a very pro-EWD player for a long time. I play rather conservatively and enjoy a certain amount of predictability, so it's about time I break out of that shell and do something different!
  4. One more excuse to make pewpew jokes with those naughty archers.
Thing I'm sure to miss most about EWD: being a sturdy little tank mage; you can invest so much in survivability stats when you don't have to commit to crit.

And now onto the before (left) and after (right):

4 MDEF and 4 HP gems converted to Crit; 6 MDEF and 1 PDEF stats refined to Crit
EWD, Illusion, and EGA (Enhanced Guardian Angel) switched to
Sniper's Edge, Determination, and either Illusion or EGA

Stat change summary:
  • -146 (-0.57%) PDEF
  • No change in MATK
  • -4,241 (-12.6%) MDEF
  • +5772 (+801.3%) Crit
  • No change in Block
  • -10,424 (-8.5%) HP
  • No change in Troop count
  • -699 Battle rating
I mostly gave up MDEF (followed by HP) in exchange for the Crit, because I favor balanced defense (nice way of saying I'm am scared of PATK). After the switch my battle rating actually went down, which is unusual when moving to a critical build. Another problem is I ran out of refinement crystals, so in some cases I'm taking lower quality critical stats over very high M/PDEF ones.

Plans for the future:
  • Finish getting the rest of my gems to level 7 (will raise my crit and HP)
  • Collect more refinement crystals to get better crit on my gear
  • Make up for some of the lost survivability stats by focusing on Armor and Endurance during the next mount whip event
  • Bake cupcakes, because cupcakes make me happy. And everybody knows that happy people with cupcakes crit more than their unhappy, cupcakeless counterparts.
So, what do you guys think? Please share anything you think that might help this crit build! I probably still need to adjust it a bit. I think I gave up too much MDEF, but this is what I went with for now ^^

Sylph Essence Farming Drops

Hey guys, a lot of people are curious about sylph farming in the sylph atoll and the chances of getting one which is not white. So here below is a report I prepared based on the input of Kay (thanks Kay!) where you can see that out of 3499 sylphs killed and the 58 times when the 60 essence exchange was made the vast majority were white sylphs - 86.2%. So do not be surprised at all if you get white all the time.

On the other hand it is relatively good to see that the chance of getting green is not that bad, at 13.8%, so this means that 1-2 in 10 exchanges should in theory give a green one.

Now in this data set not a single blue sylph was dropped or exchanged, which is rather unlucky I suppose, but you can indeed get blue ones as well both from instant drops as well as from the exchanges. I recon the chance of blue is maybe like 2-3%.

It is a pity that Wartune went a little bit in the boring farming direction, but at least now you can see the chances, so have a look at the report below:

Battle Ground Chest Drop Rates v4

Hey guy, here I have compiled the 4th and I think for now the final version of the Battle Ground Chest Drop Rates which is now very accurate with 936 chests of data! If there will be a patch which will change the BG chests then I will again collect data on this, but for now this is an awesome accuracy and thanks to everyone who supported with the data as shown on the picture.

For the newer people you can get the Battle Ground Chest in Wartune by collecting the shards in the Battle Ground and once you get 60 of them you can synthesize this chest. It is a good idea to collect these even if it takes a long time because the rewards are nice as you can see on the report.

Looking at the data you can see it is not surprising at all why so many people complain about getting always level 2 and level 3 gems. Here we see these have ~33% drop rate each which means that ~66% of the time (1 in 3 chests) you will be getting one of the gems.

All the other rewards are nicely distributed. The popular socketing rod has a rate of 4.4%, which is not bad at all.

Also all the high level luck stones, if you add up the percentages, come to a 13.6% chance of getting one of them which is very nice, especially for the low to medium level players.

So there it is, thanks again for the support and check out the report below:

Hey guys, a big thank you to my Wartune fans from the WarMachine Guild led by Guild Master Zoieraptor (Kabam server no. 5 oceanic) for supporting me both in our Wartune passion and with a little gift. Thanks!

And also congrats to Rono for his great achievement in Class Wars! (2nd in mages!!!). Gjob! Now go back to the library and read up on those spells cause #1 is still up for grabs :) hehe

You see how awesome it is when you have such a friendly group of people - you end up having much more fun and you are also more successful in Wartune! So make sure you guys get into a good guild like the WarMachine and if a good one does not exist then create a great guild yourself and enjoy your time in Wartune!

Problems with Destroyed Accounts

Hey guys, I got the below letter from Zefelina and before you read it some advice from me also to protect yourself for the future (also note I am not gonna post everyone's letters, the reason I post this is also to teach people consequences of such actions):

Don't share your account passwords. It might be your best friend or whatever, but you could always have a fight and lose your account. Moreover, sharing this way is not allowed by the game rules.

The letter:

"Hey Cosmos,

I would like to ask you for a favor if possible, since a lot of people read your blog ^^ you see, today I had my account completely destroyed by someone I trusted my Facebook pass with. He PMed me telling me to quit the game (we were not talking for a few days but I have played with him for over a year and it happened sometimes that we had disagreements). I of course said no, went to Facebook and changed my pass sensing something bad might happen. 20 minutes later I lost my network connection, tried to log back in, however, he was logging back in whenever I tried to do so. I logged my alt and told guildies what was happening, I also changed my Facebook pass several times as I play through there, even blocked the account, and he still could log in. Now all my equips are sold, so is all inventory, he made me leave guild, no sylphs, astro, anything. Even friends deleted.

I am telling you this because I hope you could post this letter in your blog, and I especially hope for the support of other players. I am asking to restore my account as it was, especially because that person could log in because of bad security. Remember: I did change my pass before he destroyed everything, so I could do absolutely nothing when he stayed on with my old pass for hours.

I posted a message ob Wartune Community in Facebook, hoping they take notice and sent numerous tickets.

Thank you a lot,

Zefelina, s77 (lvl 73)"
