First Impressions of Sylph Equipment

(posted by Ashira of the DolyGames Team)

Hey guys,

So the new patch is here and even though I am excited and there are nice Hot Events going on right now, there's also a lot of new information to take in. Just like Elia, I am also surprised (but happy!) that the publishers managed to send the HoF rewards yesterday - so credit where credit is due: You did not do as awfully as we all expected this time, R2! Cheers to that!

On to the main part of the article now: Sylph Equipment! As most of you probably have figured out by now, the sylphs are now able to wear equipment, with 6 pieces of equipment on each sylph.

The simplest form of equipment is blue equipment, which we can gain from Blacksmith, where we simply synthesize it from Sylph Equipment shards. These shards are obtained on a daily basis from Sylph Arena and - as almost always in Wartune and in life - the better you perform there, the better your rewards will be. As you can see, you need 400 of the shards to synthesize one piece of sylph equipment.

Of the 6 available pieces of Sylph Equipment, one increases your sylph's attack, another one increases its defense stats, and the remaining 4 increase its HP stat.

Once crafted, you can equip the pieces in the main sylph window (on the stats page, there is now a subpage called 'Equipment'). On the right side, you can see that there are sockets for each piece of equipment, so there will be some sort of gem that we can insert there to further boost stats, but the resources we need for it don't seem to be available yet - unless I am blind and just missed it, in that case please let me know.

As with character equipment, you can also enchant the equipment (as you can see above, the base statistic of the sylph weapon is PATK 650/MATK 650, with enchanting it to Level 10, the gained statistics more than doubled). You can do that in the sylph window on page 'Equipment'.

For enchanting blue-quality equipment, you spend 3 times 'Magical Moonlight' and 3 times 'Glint of Magic' in each attempt - both resources are commonly available from Dimensional War (or Hot Events/Hot Sales, as is the case with everything). The annoying part is that you have no guarantee that enchantment will succeed, you only have a certain success rate - which starts at 50% and decreases quickly for higher enchantment levels. Consistent with enchanting for normal equipment, there's also a gold cost involved for enchantment attempts, again they increase with enchantment level. A successful enchanting attempt increases the Equipment Level immediately, a failed attempt increases the Blessing Points by 5 and increases the success rate by 5%.

Once you have fully enchanted a blue equipment to level 10, you can upgrade it to purple equipment. My weapon is fully enchanted, so I can show you what it looks like.

So in order to upgrade the fully enchanted blue equipment to purple, you need 100 'Blessings of God' (I only have 70 at the moment *sad face*) and 10k gold. As you can see, the base stats of the purple equipment are slightly higher, but since the blue equipment was already fully enchanted it shows the higher stats - this means that it is probably a good idea to wait with the upgrade until you have enough resources to enchant the purple equipment to a high enough level, as otherwise this might result in a temporary loss of strength. For purple equipment, a divinity soul slot is added (which means you could socket two slots instead of one, but since we do not have these resources yet, it makes no difference) and the enchantment upper limit is raised.

As mentioned, the resource you need for upgrading blue equipment to purple is 'Blessings of God', which you can also obtain from Dimensional War or from Events. After upgrading to purple equipment and fully enchanting that piece (which I don't see happening anytime soon), you can then upgrade the equipment to orange quality, which again seems to require a new resource, called 'Gift of God', which you can at this point only get from the merchants in Dimensional War. I do not yet know how many of these we need to upgrade purple to orange, but as soon as I find out, I will of course share it with you guys.

So yeah, that's the information I gathered as of now - it looks like a nice feature for everybody, but - as always - clearly favors cashers quite a bit. If you have any valuable information on the topic or have any questions, please share them in the comments - since this is a new feature in a new patch, many things seem uncertain and it is an ongoing learning process that is most beneficial if we all try to figure out relevant information together!

PS: Since some might be interested, here is a post-patch picture of my character. My BR jumped to around 560k now, mostly due to the BR of the active sylph that is now added to our own BR - so despite the huge BR jumps we see all over the place in the game right now, keep in mind that these are not really an increase in strength if the only source of the BR increase is the added sylph BR, so if I was a 450k+ player who was killed by Sky Trail boss V-3 before, I'm now a 560k player who is still killed by Sky Trail boss V-3, so not sure if that's something to be really happy about.

Elia's Hall of Fame Rewards

(Posted by Eliatan of the DolyGames Team)

Hey you guys, just thought I'd share my loot from Hall of Fame!

Here's the Full Sengolar Outfit with the Inferno Dragon mount and King of Balenor title. I thought the Inferno Dragon would look stupidly similar to the Molten Dragon, but it's actually somewhat distinct. These titles though . . . I don't regularly wear a title, but I'm definitely not going to change that policy to look like a circus tent.

Here are my total rewards.

Tomorrow there's an event to Holy Forge for a 20% return, and I'm super sad that I used all my Vulcan materials already. My hoarder senses totally failed me on the Holy Forge event, since I didn't think they would do something like that for what's basically enchanting your gear. Oh well :( at least I still have lots of hooves to use.

They may be two weeks late, but I'm still sort of amazed that Wartune managed to get these rewards out today, considering last year's debacle. Baby steps. Baby steps.

Highest Possible BR from Gems for Mages

(Posted by Eliatan of the DolyGames Team)

Hey you guys, with the Hall of Fame event ending in a week, I was chatting with a friend about which set of gems will give the most battle rating for mages. That conversation somehow turned into me taking 50+ screenshots of my BR with various gem and sylph combinations, and here are the results :)

To do this test, I took out all of the gems in my gear and then recorded my battle rating after placing exactly one level 5 gem of each type.

In all cases, I benefit most from MATK, MDEF, and HP gems the most, and for the 4th best it varies depending on the sylph:
  • Electro: PATK
  • Fire: PATK
  • Wind: PATK/PDEF
  • Water: PDEF
  • Dark: PDEF
  • Light: PATK/PDEF
Since I my BR is at its highest when I call Hercules, I plan to convert my Crit gems into MDEF (only x4 at the moment) and PATK in a few days.

Sources of Percentage Stat Bonuses

Here I'll list off my sources of percentage-based stat increases. If your bonuses differ drastically from mine, then you should really do the test yourself to confirm which gems give you the most.

Passive Skills

The passives from the skill builds are very big and drive a huge part of which gems end up being the most important. For mages that are not level 80 with class advancement opened, you won't have Sturdy yet, and will definitely get more out of PDEF and MDEF gems than HP ones like I do.

Sylph Passive Bonuses

The next biggest possible source of variation probably comes from which sylph is your main one. Regardless of the passives, you should call the sylph that gives you the most BR, and then adjust your gems for that sylph's passives.
  • Electro: +5% MATK, +5% PATK
  • Fire: +5% PATK, +5% PATK
  • Wind: +5% HP
  • Water: +3% MDEF, +3% PDEF
  • Dark: +5% PDEF
  • Light: +5% MDEF

Dragon Soul

The Dragon Soul System added new percentage bonuses. So far I can't get any more until they release more ways to use Dragon essences. These ones aren't huge though and will not vary the results as much as the hero/sylph passive skills.

Wings

Wings are another source of percentage increases, but like the Dragon Soul bonuses, are quite small compared to the hero/sylph passives.

Hope this proves helpful for anyone that needs an extra push for Hall of Fame! Good luck :)

Potion/scroll do not count towards the BR calculation.

Reactions from Players

I went through 10+ pages of forum feedback and took samples of player's opinions. Not one positive comment was made, all was negative.
  • "What a horrible let down"
  • "This is ridiculous! "
  • "R2 aiming to further alienate the player base"
  • "This is total ** event "
  • "This kinda BR range is totally insane"
  • "What a bunch of garbage! "
  • "You've changed Hall of Fame into the Hall of Cashers"
  • "One thing you R2 guys are really good in: pis.sing off loyal player - great job, indeed"
  • "Thx R2 this made my decision to quit more easy"
  • "I'm quitting I was waiting for Apollo wings since I didn't meet 62k BR last year now I don't even reach 250k BR"
  • "This is just disappointing! "
  • "This is by far the biggest insult to Wartune players"
  • "This is how you make people change games ... I feel like quitting now "
  • "Congrats to you R2, you are making more and more players quit this game; you did a great job"

So what's the deal:

There are several lessons here:
  1. If you want to learn how to upset all your players / customers do exactly what R2 does.
  2. What I think happened is that someone of rank at R2, probably relatively newly assigned to Wartune, decided that this event should be for the very top people only, which is fine if it was isolated, but it is not an isolated / new event. Players' expectations were already set by Hall of Fame #1 and #2 last year. In the last one, roughly speaking, Top 100 people could get the Apollo Wings and/or Warlord's Medallion, whereas now, you don't even quality for some gold. And a lot of people were building their BR for a whole year and waiting for Hall of Fame 2014 to get their chance, same as the other people who got theirs, which is now completely crushed by R2.
  3. Instead of working together with Wartune players and/or top Wartune bloggers like me, R2 has built a reputation that they don't care due to constantly not listening to players and, as you know, they even banned accounts of their top bloggers (myself included) and censored the names in the forums instead of talking and working together for mutual success.
Basically it's a dictatorship.
98% of all players of all servers will not be able to participate in this event.

Madness 325k BR Wartune Player

Hey guys, some mad Wartune info below on a crazy high BR of 324,737 player with all sorts of statistics maxed out or near maxed out. This is really nutz and you can imagine only the sorts of money that has gone into this player. Certainly it is well above 100,000 USD. People who spent that sort of money are called "Whales" by the industry and they are absolutely precious to the game companies as they make huge profits from such players.

Also all regular players should, in a way, be thankful to such players because we all can enjoy games like Wartune because of the profits these guys generate to the companies.

But check out the stats below:
  • 325k BR
  • Maxed or near maxed statistics
  • Level 9 and level 10 Astrals
  • +220% bonus to the gems through soul engraving
  • Mount stats all 4,000
  • Full level 80 legend set
  • and much more

Hall of Fame Rewards

(Posted by Telstar)

Hello, this is my first post, since I haven't actually had the time to put together some of the pieces I had in mind (they may follow).

On 2nd October, at around 21.30 Server Time my server finally got the rewards for the Hall of Fame event that ended on 29th September. Other publishers sent them at different times - I met people in BG from Aeria and Minigames that had them already on 1st October, but the important is that they arrived and match to the BR I achieved with lot of effort (and some cash) :)
I got this mai, which I didnt open before finishing the WB:

As seen above, I managed to get to 95k BR (actually 96k) with 200% academy blessing a couple days before the end of the event. To achieve it, I had to work for all month on all fronts.
Among other things, it was needed to max matk in the academy (lv74), make a red matk astral and level it to 6 (5 would have been sufficient anyway), and switch goddess blessing and determination (which do NOT add to the battle rating) for holy mysticality and holy brilliance.
I dont have a picture of astros anymore, only the current one, where I dropped the matk into determination. I'm keeping the HP astral for next CW, and planning to try guardian angel too.
Last and most important, I also had to borrow the Therion mount from my lovely GM, who I thank publically, and who already lent to me for this month CW.  Without it, I would have been short about 1.5k to 95k BR.

Here are the pictures of the rewards, which I first recap below:

62K+ apollo wings
65k+ warlord medallion
80k+ 2k soul crystals
95k+ Darknite panther (unfortunatley +10 all stats and not +20 as initially advertised) + 800 whips
105+ Helm, armor and weapon (3 pieces of clothing) of apollo set

The wings are lovely and were awarded before last october (AFAIK). I used the free soul crystals + about 400 I had in stock to upgrade one level of soul engrave, saving the rest for the future event.

The medallion is "meh" - useful only to save insignas, since it is permanent. Here is compared to my LD medallion:

The mount is a flame version of the frost lynx, and I haven't seen it anywhere in cross server, meaning that most likely nobody reached 95k BR last year's HoF event.
Here is how it looks in my stables and in the wilds:

Yes, with about 500 of the 800 free whips I got together with the mount I finally updated my stables to lv3 (and got the phantom steed, not showed). Leftover whips will wait for event.

Lastly, this is how the apollo set looks on a warrior -my friend and guildmate Bass1 (which is the top player on my server):
